Simple Steps to Improve Self Esteem

Article by Deon Du Plessis

Self esteem, the esteem you have for yourself is a subjective appraisal of yourself. Self esteem is nothing but your own opinion of yourself. As this implies, self esteem is not something outside of you, but something internal. It is the self, the you, and does not come from anyone or anything outside yourself.

So many people “suffer” from low self esteem and blame it on lack of respect, a bad childhood or negative influences on them. Intellectually this all makes perfect sense, but the challenge is in resisting the external influences that can, and sometimes do, eat away at our self esteem. Fortunately there are some very simple steps to improve self esteem.

One of the easiest steps to improve self esteem is to make yourself do “difficult” things. This breeds a sense of pride. Pride in yourself and your accomplishments will give you a higher opinion of yourself (the esteem you have for yourself). We all have things we are procrastinating about; certain actions we are putting off even though we know that if and when we do them our lives will be greatly enhanced. By using your willpower to actually do some of these things, your self esteem will grow and along with it your perception of your own abilities. This in turn will create a momentum in your life where success breeds more success.

The key is to take small steps to improve self esteem. Realize that your self esteem or self worth is not something that happens overnight. You work at it constantly and it is exactly that which builds higher self esteem. Your self worth or your opinion of weather you are worthy to be, do or have something is nothing but a conscious decision you make daily.

Most people have low self esteem because they focus on what they don’t have. They focus on their shortcomings and the so called failures of their past. One steps to improve self esteem is to clean up your past. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood! Think on all your past achievements, think hard and soon you will realize that you have done some amazing things in your life. Write them down and add to the list as you remember your great achievements. Never compare yourself to other people, especially siblings.

Realize that it is not what happens to us but what we do with what happens to us – how we interpret or represent it on our inside worlds, in our minds and emotions. Appreciate yourself and know that you are a miracle of nature and that your current conditions do not reflect your ultimate ability. Focus on what you do have and what you do want from life instead of the “terrible” things you did.

If you grew up being told that you are worthless, no good chances and that you will never amount to anything, then know this: YOU and ONLY YOU get to decide who and what you are. Other people’s opinions of you are only that: opinions. People with high self esteem are people who decided what they are. They know deep down inside what they are and what they want to be and it is that image of themselves that they focus on. The made up their own opinions which are the only opinions that count.

By being focused on that instead of what other people said about them they have a high esteem of themselves. They learned to be true to themselves and their beliefs about themselves.

How to Find a Personal Development Program in 3 Simple Steps

Article by Ryan Biddulph

Personal development can be a challenging ordeal. Take the stress out of how to find a personal development program by simplifying the process.

Follow 3 simple steps to find the right system for you.

Seek A Trusted Source

Go with a trusted source. Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor, Randy Gage and Bob Doyle are 4 of the more trusted personal development coaches on the circuit today.

Trusted sources usually pop up all over the place. Also check the testimonials page. See what people are saying about the coaches included in the personal development program. There is no shortage of reviews concerning any personal development program or mentor. People want fair and honest opinions:word of mouth advertising at its finest.

A Collection Of Mentors

One person self help programs can’t possibly cover all bases. The program should offer different viewpoints on personal development.

One coach might lead a program but it’s healthy to view topics from multiple angles. No guru is an expert in all areas.

I would suggest being exposed to the teachings of at least 10 mentors. Proven systems offer interviews with a variety of coaches.

The disciple syndrome – blindly following the teaching of one sponsor – is many a person’s downfall. No one person has all the answers. Learn from a collective.

Research

Don’t spend months researching but don’t spend minutes either.

Perform strict due diligence. Don’t be in a rush to pick a self help system.

Marketers are wise. Advertisers know how to play on your emotions. While most personal development gurus are reputable it’s easy to be swayed by persuasive marketing tactics, making an impulse buy. Demand a solid fit.

Some teachers resonate with you. Some might clash with your ideals. Take time to select a guru who works for you.

Deciding how to find a personal development program shouldn’t be a task in itself. Follow my steps to pick the right system for you.

Self Esteem Builders: How to Develop Self Esteem in 5 Easy Steps

Article by Rebecca Mills

Do You Display the Signs of Low Self Esteem? The key signs of low self esteem may be quite obvious; these include low confidence, putting up with mistreatment, under achievement, poor earning power. However there are also some subtle signs that you may not have realized:

* Do you live well within your comfort zone even if it’s very uncomfortable? i.e. at home, in the office? * Are you over looked for promotions at work? do you ever ask for a raise? * Do you date unavailable or poor quality people? do you feel you deserve a great partner or do you make excuses for yourself? * Do you lack a support network of good friends? * Are you looking for validation in lots of different areas? do you need to be needed, complimented? admired? * Does your wardrobe look old, un-coordinated and out of date? * Do you get regular check ups at the doctor, dentist, physiotherapist when you’re not well. Or do you make excuses or put them off?

Now you may not accept someone treating you in an appalling way, but sometimes we simply don’t realize that our self-esteem may not be as high or positive as it should be. The law of attraction states that we get in life what we think about and focus on. If we feel that we’re not worthy to some extent, then our lives, wardrobes and career will reflect that to the same level. How to Supercharge Your Self-esteem Building your self esteem takes a bit of time, focus, dedication, and an unwavering desire to love and respect yourself in ways that you have never done before. You are whole as you are, and all is required is for you to see that and move in the direction of your desires. If you’re over weight, putting up with an unhappy relationship, love yourself first and commit to your growth every single day. Self Esteem Building Exercises to do: 1. Write a list of all your best traits, qualities and abilities. Don’t be shy or modest. Get it all down no matter how small you think it is. Keep the list with you as much as possible, and read it atleast every morning and before you go to sleep. Get into the emotion and feel pleasure and happiness as you read the list. 2. Stop mind chatter garbage! Do you put yourself down? Get negative about your life? Moan about everything? Well just Stop! Negative comments about yourself achieve nothing in your life. So stop indulging in such useless, destructive acts and replace the negatives with the positives! If you think you’re over weight and unattractive, replace that garbage with: “I love and respect myself what ever my size and shape, and I commit to a great healthy lifestyle with good food and regular exercise which will make me feel amazing!” 3. Re-Write a Bad Experience If you’re feeling low because of certain past experiences that have put a dent in your self-esteem, then change your perspective. There is a learning experience underneath every challenge. Using a bit of imagination and elbow grease, re-write that experience and turn into a positive, life changing event that catapulted you into the direction of greater self growth, self love and self development. 4. Set Measurable Goals Get you top goals down, and break them into baby steps. Commit to take a baby step every day. The goals could cover finances, relationships, fun, interests, hobbies. 5. Be What Ever You want to Be If you’ve lost touch with your mojo, your inner diva or groovy guy – then go get it back. Change you personal style and give yourself a proverbial kick up the butt. The best self esteem boosters to personal image include:

* Get a great hair cut * Try on some new clothes, get a second opinion, and update your wardrobe. * Choose clothes that don’t hide or swallow you! Always wear well fitted clothes- what ever your shape, and place emphasis on the areas that you like better. * Accessorize yourself with a bit of make up if you’re a woman, and scent/perfume for both girls and boys.

What is Good Self Esteem? Self esteem is one of the most fundamental aspects of human nature because it sets the direction for your entire life. People with high self esteem have a high appreciation of themselves and those with low self esteem have a low estimate of their self worth. The good news is that self esteem is a simple a muscle, which can be nurtured, cared for and strengthened to any level that you choose for yourself.

Celebrity Charisma is what we all crave – but dare not admit! Would you love to know how to get Self Esteem? Wouldn’t it be great to be more attractive? More Seductive? Better Self-Esteem – Four Steps To Improve Your Self-Esteem

Article by Stefan Holm

Better Self-Esteem – Four Steps To Improve Your Self-Esteem

You can have everything in place with the right education, job, background, etc. But if you do not have good self-esteem, you are not getting the success you deserve, writes success coach Hans Thorn.

We have looked at many different aspects in acquiring success. But if you do not get your self-esteem in place to obtain everything else in the world, you will not be really satisfied.

How do we accomplish this? In order to understand what self-esteem does, we must understand what self-esteem is. The best way to do this is to compare self-esteem with self-confidence.

Do you know the difference? When you understand what the difference is, you can also achieve anything at all, because you can differentiate between the two. Self-confidence according to me, is that value you make of the surrounding world on what you do. When you create a lot of success within business, sports or something else and become recognized for this, the chances are good that you will develop good self-confidence.

Self-esteem on the other hand is your internal value of yourself irrespective of what the surrounding world thinks. You can have enormous success outwardly or not get any recognition whatsoever, but your self-esteem is intact. Do you see the difference?

Let us take an example: You have Sam who is the top executive at a leading company in the IT field. All is going well and Sams self-confidence is high. Suddenly the market collapses and Sam is fired. Depending on what Sam has for fundamental values about himself (self-esteem), his behavior returns to the basics (self-esteem). With poor self-esteem, Sam collapses and we never hear from him again. With good self-esteem, perhaps Sam takes a half of a year off and comes back later, stronger than ever. Certainly, you have seen both types of people?

Can you develop your self-esteem so that you do not become broken when your self-confidence gives way? Of course! It is simple but it is not easy.

What can a person do?

1. Create a fundamental security that is not based on extraneous results 2. Realize what it is and develop it3. With this foundation you will be on the path to the success that you want4. Now you have both self-esteem and self-confidence

As mentioned, it is simple, but not easy. Therefore many different directions have emerged on how to develop your self-esteem. It can be anything at all from yoga to meditation to coaching. Find the way that passes you best.

Good Luck!

The 6 Steps to Effective Weight Loss And Improving Health and Fitness for Beginners

Article by Joseph Remington

How to Lose Weight and Feel Great…

When first beginning on the path to health and fitness, it is easy for a beginner to be intimidated and confused. With so many different opinions and approaches to the best methods of fitness; onecan easily be overwhelmed. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, becoming physically fit is very easy to do when following some simple guidelines. The most difficult thing however is making the decision, and then following through with your desired goal and level of fitness you want to achieve. So, put another way, reaching your health and fitness goals requires only two things; discipline (it’s up to you so Be Accountable for Your Actions) and a set of simple guidelines, the basic of which I will provide for you here.

1. First You should arrange for a full physical examination from your physician. This is mandatory for people that have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, or are obese. Once you have your doctor’s approval to begin a health and fitness program, you should schedule a fitness assessmentwith a health professional at your gym, though these are not fun things to do they are the foundation of determining where you are physically and where you want to be with your goals to shed fat.

The real benefits of the fitness assessment are not finding out how much fat you have or how long you can run on the treadmill. The benefits are better understanding where your strengths and weaknesses are. So in order to avoid injury and actually achieve your health and fitness goals, get to know your strengths and weaknesses.

2. The next secret is to walk, to your fitness success. You do not need to run in order to get the most out of beginning a fitness plan. Start out slow, and gain momentum. As the saying goes slow and steady wins the race. Trying to run a marathon before you get started will only have you quitting and making excuses for why you failed.

3. Another little benefit of a good fitness assessment is that it will actually serve as a nice introductory workout to your return to your new health and fitness lifestyle. It will remind you of the reality of what your body actually can do right now in your current condition. Once the fitness assessment reminds your body of its current condition and awakens your muscles from their winter slumber, you will realize your limits that you must respect in future workouts.

4. Goal-setting is another secret to success, not only with your fitness goals but in every area of your life. It is a lot more effective to commit to a set of specific short-term and long-term goals than it is to simply hope for you to lose weight each year.1. First, build your social support team. Social support is the #1 success factor in health and fitness programs and is key to helping you shed fat. Support can come from your spouse, brother or sister, child, mom or dad, friend, neighbor, co-worker, personal trainer, or lifestyle coach. Don’t try to go it alone. People respond better when they report to a person instead of a machine.2. You also need to know that nutrition is the second most important success factor in health and fitness programs. You can check out an article that I recently posted about Why Low Fat Diets Make You Fatter. This article shows the power of nutrition, and how we’ve All been lied to concerning proper diets. You really don’t need to train like a world-class athlete when you are starting to shed fat. Most of the fat you’ll lose in the early going is because you have chosen to make better nutritional choices. And if you don’t make better nutritional choices, even the best exercise program in the world isn’t going to help you achieve your goals to shed fat. We’ll talk more about exercise programs in a minute though.

First, you should sit down and set some realistic goals TODAY. Always remember to set within your limits, but don’t be afraid to stretch on your expectations just a little to challenge yourself. If you are currently have not exercised in months (or years), do not begin an advanced training program. Start with a conservative beginner program. Your stored fat wasn’t built in a day, and neither will it be lost in a day.

Okay, now a little exercise to get the blood flowing. Again, start out slowly. For instance, begin with 1 set per muscle group. In week 2, you should be ready to add an additional set. And if you want to build up to 3 sets, then do so in week 3. Slowly increase theweight and stay within your desired repetition range. At no time should you be too sore to function. Sore muscles are guaranteed when you lift. So keep the volume low when you are just starting out.

And now for 2 super secrets that will help keep you committed and consistent with your workouts and will finally help you lose fat for good.

Nutrition is a lot simpler than you think.Don’t over think things. See a nutritionist or listen to what yourmother told you as a kid. Food choices should contain a large nutrient-to-calorie ratio. Dr. Phil (yes that Dr. Phil) calls this “High-Response Cost, High-Yield Nutrition”. And follow this rule: Don’t eat foods with added sugar or high-fructose corn syrup, but make sure to log your nutritional intake. This is a free website that allows you to track your calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat.

The consistent use of these 6 secrets will help you achieve your health and fitness goals to shed fat this year. Make your fitness plan a strategic investment in your future health. One of the most efficientand effective ways to long term fat loss is through a proven system like The Real Deal Body Transformation System which is the choice of fitness professionals such as;

10 Easy Steps to Boost Self Esteem and Stop Anxiety

Article by Jay Chase

Self esteem is something we need in order for us to lead a life that is happy, healthy and genuine. Self esteem means that we give our life meaning with confidence and belief in ourselves. Unfortunately for many of us our lives are controlled by a feeling of insecurity, doubt and extreme worry of what other people think about us due to low levels of self esteem. However, there are many things we can do to change this, here are 10 tips to getting your life back by increasing your confidence and self esteem bit by bit:

1. Just Ask:

‘If you don’t ask you don’t get’ is a phrase to live by when it comes to getting the things you want. Making asking for things a habit will give you the practice you need to becoming unconsciously confident and once you begin to see the results and gaining the things you need to positively reaffirm what you are doing asking for the things you need, want or would like to know it will become second nature and you will always look to enhancing your future and self esteem.

2. Moving Forward:

It is a very common thing to happen when we have self esteem to dwell on the past and let our failures take control of our future. If you have ever been through such things as a bad break up, miscarried a child, lost a job, fallen out with a friend or been in debt you have experienced a negative aspect of life that can be hard to come back from if you have low self esteem. Life can be hard there is no denying this and when small things add up or something big happens to you sometimes there seems no way out. However, it does not have to be this way.

We forget that there is a whole future ahead of us and how we deal with one thing will reflect how we deal with things in the future. This is why it is so important to move on from anything bad that happens in your life and even though sometimes it is hard you have to push yourself little by little towards something positive.

3. Work On It:

Self esteem is something that you do have to practice. For some of us we believe that there are those that are lucky and those that are not, there are those who have everything going for them in their life and are confident and there are those that will just always fail and be a shrinking violet in the background. This is not true. Yes, there are these people in life but it is not something that is predetermined by any means. People make their own luck, it is as simple as that. So, if you think positive, positive things will happen. Each day do something that will help you gain that extra layer of confidence and make you feel good about yourself.

4. Positive Energy:

To build your self esteem, negative vibes and environments can have a detrimental affect on you, especially whilst you are developing and gaining strength to deal with the things in your life. Although it is impossible to avoid everything negative in your life you can take your self out of certain situations and/or embrace the situations using it to be something positive as it is a challenge.

Negatives are something necessary for a balanced perspective, you can still try to avoid negativity when possible. If you do not enjoy work talk to your manager to see what can be done, if you are in an abusive relationship speak to someone who can help you, if you have a child who just cannot seem to behave go to your doctor, your family or your friend and see if they can help or if you have a friend who puts you down in some way then take time away from them and hang out with those who have a positive influence on you.

5. Look It Up:

Research everything about self esteem, confidence, support groups etc in your local area, speak to those you trust, go to your doctor if necessary about anything that you think is affecting your life. You might have gone your whole life thinking that feeling down everyday, not coping with life’s day to day routine, being aggressive, worrying what others think, shying away from challenges or having panic attacks is just part and parcel of being you; that its natural and cannot be changed. This is untrue.

We can change once we have the knowledge of how to change it. Write down all the things you think are holding you back; thoughts, feeling, emotions, people, situations, work, family or friends can all be things that you think are holding you back in life and make you feel lost and hopeless. This may be true to some extent but what you need to realise is that it is you that has the power to change it, if you don’t like your life you can do something about it.

6. Action Plan:

Take time out of your life and look at it, really look at it. What is it that you want to make better? What is it that will make you happy? And what is it that you know you can do to change it? Write down an action plan that will guide you over a certain time with small and large milestones on it that will not only motivate you but grow your self esteem as you go along, you will be achieving the things you never thought possible.

7. Reward System:

Self development and improving your self and life is no mean feat. You will never increase your self esteem if you do not reward yourself. We naturally respond to incentives and there is nothing wrong in this. You have to feed you mind and body with positive affirmations to motivate you enough to continue and feed that self esteem and confidence ‘tree’. Set yourself goals in realistic time scales and when you reach them treat yourself to something you like to do: A night out with the girls doing something special, pamper yourself, go on holiday, have a glass of champagne, take some time out with a good book and bobble bath. It can be anything that you know you will love and will be good for you to do, reemphasising what you have achieved and why you should continue to boost that self esteem.

8. Face Your Fears:

This can be a hard thing to do no matter what your fear is: Going out shopping, driving on the motorway, staying home alone, going to a pub by yourself, dating again, starting a family, leaving your partner or even spiders. What we need to know is you can change your perception of any of these and more by these by facing them.

It does sound like a cliché to say face your fears but it is a cliché for 1 reason; that it is true. Exposure therapy is something that is commonly used and really does work as long as it is controlled and taken in small steps. Whatever your fear you can change the way you think by standing up to them.

9. Talk It Over:

Talking things over with people can really have a huge effect on your self esteem. No matter who you talk to; your family, children, best friend, doctor, therapist, support group or counsellor. The fact that you can and are willing to open up to someone is something that we can take for granted. Being open and honest with yourself can be tougher sometimes but talking things through and getting that reassurance from the people you trust can help you adjust your thinking and improve the way you communicate with others and react to people, giving you the confidence to

10. Friends:

Friends should be a huge part of life and we should all be grateful for them everyday. Having a network around you gives a huge boost of confidence as it will for them. If you are reading this and you feel you really do not have anyone in your life that meets this criteria have a think again; who is the person you call the most or that calls you the most? Who is it you think of when you are in trouble or are feeling down? And who is it that you miss the most when you don’t see them? If you cannot think of anyone you do not have to worry as it is something that you can use as a goal to find that support and be a support to someone you love and if you do have that around you really look at them and be thankful for what you have as this will give you that energy you need to find the positives in your life.

Anxiety and self esteem are closely linked and create a vicious circle if one or both factors are at a level that affects your life in a negative way. So by boosting your self esteem and getting that confidence to battle life you will also get the confidence and tools to battle anxiety and stop that worry of what others think about you in such a way you will take your life, anxiety and confidence and do the things you want to do.
